Chapter 11 Nobody Can Be Trusted
Chapter 11 Nobody Can Be Trusted
The middle-aged man froze after taking only a couple of steps as soon as he entered the room.
"Dora!?"
He saw the 6th-floor manager lying unconscious on the ground.
They originally came to confront the other party, but unexpectedly, upon entering, they found the other party lying motionless on the ground.
Upon seeing this, the young man following behind quickly stepped forward without saying a word, walked up to Dora, carefully turned her over, supported her back, and reached out to feel her forehead.
"It was a backlash from mental magic, but it shouldn't be a big problem."
Magic backlash?
The middle-aged man frowned, then turned to look at Xu Lun sitting on the bed, his face full of confusion and shock.
Xu Lun was also stunned. Could they be suspecting me?
He quickly explained:
"I didn't do it! I really didn't do it! I don't know anything about it!"
Standing behind him, Han Xinwan smiled without saying a word, but simply pressed her hand to him, indicating that he didn't need to be nervous.
"Alright, let's not worry about that for now. We'll just check the security footage later."
"Take Team Leader Nicole out first and find her a room to rest."
She gave instructions to her two subordinates behind her.
The two men nodded, immediately stepped forward, took the dora-Nicole from the young man, each carrying one on one side, and helped her up to walk out.
Han Xinwan said to the rest of the group, "Alright, stop looking, let's go somewhere else and talk, let's go..."
Urged on by her, the middle-aged man and the young man quickly left the room.
When the door closed again, Xu Lun was left alone, still sitting on the bed, shaken.
After a moment, he recovered and looked down at the bracelet.
Is it because of this?
In that brief moment when his vision went black and then brightened again, he seemed to sense something, but he wasn't sure.
...
In room 708.
Xu Lun sat on the bed, as if he was thinking about something.
Han Xinwan and the others have been gone for some time now.
The food on the dining car gradually got cold.
However, Xu Lun had no appetite at all.
He briefly reviewed what had happened and came to a conclusion:
This bracelet seems to have some kind of protective mechanism; it will retaliate when someone tries to harm it.
As for the method of retaliation, Xu Lun is not quite sure yet.
When he was attacked by the shadowy figure, the bracelet emitted a bright light, which blew off half of his arm, but it seems to have regenerated later.
Just now, that blonde, blue-eyed woman used some kind of mental attack to invade my brain, resulting in a backlash against my consciousness. However, judging from what the bespectacled young man said, I should be fine.
Two attacks resulted in drastically different counterattacks.
Xu Lun became increasingly curious about the origin of the bracelet.
He even had a feeling:
The reason that girl named Uesugi Masami wore this thing on her hand was not to get rid of the shadow and shift the blame, but rather it was a kind of entrustment.
That's right.
Xu Lun now believes that the other party truly entrusted the bracelet to him for safekeeping.
It was as if he had staked everything on himself.
As for what the bet was, he had no clue.
Unless this so-called management bureau actually brings the other party back, we might not be able to learn the whole story from them.
Until then, all Xu Lun could do was wait.
He glanced at the storage box under the food cart; it was probably full of his things.
So he got out of bed, bent down, and took the box out from the bottom of the dining cart.
When the box was opened, inside were his clothes and the cell phone.
The screen is currently black. Xu Lun picked up the phone and tried to turn it on, but there was no response.
Han Xinwan told him that the unusual energy fluctuations caused all the nearby electronic devices to malfunction.
This possibility is not nonexistent, but rather quite high.
However, Xu Lun suspects that there is another possibility: the Administration Bureau may have deliberately damaged his phone.
The reason for this suspicion is that when those people were leaving, Han Xinwan mentioned a word:
monitor.
She said she needed to go back and check the surveillance footage.
This surveillance likely refers to the surveillance cameras located outside the room.
It could also refer to the surveillance cameras inside the room.
Thinking of this, Xu Lun unconsciously glanced at the ceiling.
Perhaps there is a hidden camera in this room.
If that's the case, it means the Administration is currently monitoring him in all aspects.
That woman named Han Xinwan, she said nice things, telling me to treat this place like a hospital.
But he knew in his heart that this room was a cage, used to imprison and monitor him.
Including the blonde woman who brought him food earlier, who was clearly hostile towards him.
Judging from her tone, she didn't seem to believe what she had said to Han Xinwan before, and planned to invade her consciousness to check it out herself.
This shows that the entire management bureau, in principle, still considers itself a suspect.
Therefore, you can't believe everything they say.
It's not surprising that the phone screen is black and won't turn on.
It's impossible to escape from here.
Xu Lun's only talisman right now is this golden bracelet.
He glanced sideways at the food on the food cart.
Could this have been poisoned?
Even if they weren't poisoned, something must have been done to them, right?
Xu Lun's current attitude is to doubt everything; he feels like he's almost developing paranoia.
But even if someone really did tamper with the food, so what?
He realized that he had no choice at all.
If I don't eat it, it will inevitably arouse the suspicion of those people.
Before figuring out the situation, Xu Lun felt it was better to continue playing dumb.
He glanced at the food cart again, hesitated for a long time, and finally reached out his hand...
......
at the same time.
In a small conference room.
A laptop computer was placed in front of the middle-aged man.
He rested one hand on the table, his fingers tapping the surface from time to time.
On the computer screen, the scene that had just occurred in room 708 was playing.
Dora Nicole casually waved her hand, sending a chair to her side from a distance.
Then she sat down, crossed her legs, and stared intently at Xu Lun.
A few seconds later, her head snapped back, and she flew backward.
"Ugh!"
After reading it, the middle-aged man let out a deep sigh.
He took off his glasses, tossed them onto the table, and then began rubbing his temples repeatedly, closing his eyes with a worried expression.
The young man sat beside him, arms crossed. Seeing the other's demeanor, he adjusted his glasses and said:
"Director, please don't get upset. I understand how Team Leader Nicole feels."
Yamei was her favorite, and now she's caused such a huge disaster; she's definitely more anxious than anyone else.
