Monica witnessed everything that happened tonight. On the way home, she couldn't help but lean against the back of the passenger seat and ask, "Huang, what does your family do? Why were Mai and Bian so polite to you? Are you hiding something from Su Jin?"

When Monica said this, she deliberately glanced at Su Jin, as if she were asking on Su Jin's behalf.

This annoyed Maowa. He felt that Monica was deliberately bringing up a sore spot. However, seeing that Su Jin did not intervene, he knew that Su Jin also had doubts about his family background.

He remained calm and said as usual, "My parents are not in business; they are just ordinary middle-level managers in a state-owned enterprise in China."

While these words did not completely dispel Su Jin's doubts, they were indeed quite reasonable.

Having known each other for so long, Su Jin knew about Mao Wa's family situation, and she also knew that Mao Wa himself was very hardworking, which was why he received a scholarship from UC. In addition, considering the apartment Mao Wa lived in and his usual spending habits, she could not possibly categorize him with those rich second-generation kids from China.

In the circle of rich kids, to gain their respect and admiration, you either need to be richer than them or have powerful parents, but it seems that the kid has neither of these qualities.

If Maowa were rich, how could he possibly live in a student dormitory? Besides, his parents are just mid-level managers in a domestic shipbuilding company, with no real power, and they are not worth those rich kids bowing and scraping to.

This little thing almost burned out Su Jin's CPU.

She thought and thought but couldn't figure it out, and since Maowa had already said everything he needed to say, she couldn't press him any further.

Maowa breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the two of them were no longer asking questions.

The next morning, Maowa was awakened by a knock on the door.

He glanced sleepily at the alarm clock on the bedside table. It was eight o'clock in the morning. It was the weekend. What was going on?

The person was still knocking on the door when James's voice came from outside: "Huang! Open the door, I know you're in there."

Maowa had no choice but to get out of bed and open the door for the guy.

The door opened, and James stood in the doorway, seemingly carrying a bag of breakfast. He wasn't alone; Park Sung-ho and Han Woo were following behind him.

"Why are you here so early?" Maowa yawned first, then stretched.

"My God, it's Saturday, the weather is so nice outside, and you're sleeping?" James said with an air of self-righteousness.

After rubbing his eyes, Maowa glanced out the window; the sunlight was indeed very bright.

He stepped aside to let the three of them into the house: "Please sit down for a while, I'll go brush my teeth and wash my face."

When he finished washing up and came out, James had already set out breakfast. It was just a box of sandwiches, nothing else.

Maowa glanced at it, turned around and went to the refrigerator to get a carton of milk, and also grabbed a glass.

After he sat down, he poured himself a glass of milk, took a big bite of a sandwich, and mumbled, "Okay, what is it?"

James leaned over in front of him and chuckled, "There's an outdoor market today, we came to invite you to come and check it out."

After swallowing the sandwich with milk, Maowa asked, "What market?"

James gestured with his hands to indicate the name: "It's one of those markets that sells handicrafts, snacks, and secondhand goods, right there in Santa Monica. I was planning to go there to shoot some footage."

Maowa took another bite of his sandwich. He was indeed hungry at this moment. He hadn't eaten much last night, and it was quite late when he got back. He took a shower and fell asleep.

He glanced at Han Yu and Park Sung-ho.

Han Yu immediately stated his position: "I have no objection."

Park Sung-ho said, "I heard that many pretty girls will also be there."

Mao Wa looked defeated. After thinking for a moment, he sent Su Jin a message: "Are you free this morning? James and the others said they're going to the Santa Monica market. Want to come along?"

Su Jin replied quickly: "I don't have anything planned today. What time are you leaving?"

"We'll pick you up downstairs at your dorm at nine o'clock."

After receiving Su Jin's confirmation, Maowa ate both sandwiches in just a few bites.

At nine o'clock sharp, the group met downstairs at Su Jin's dormitory building.

Su Jin was dressed very casually today, with her hair tied in a ponytail, looking very refreshing.

After James saw this, he quietly nudged Maowa with his elbow and winked at him, but Maowa didn't even glance at him.

Park Sung-ho, however, maintained a serious demeanor: "Welcome to our weekend squad."

Han Yu smiled and nodded to Su Jin as a greeting.

James drives a Ford Raptor that's a bit old. Although it was bought on the used market, James has taken great care of it, so the car is in excellent condition and looks great.

Park Sung-ho sat in the passenger seat, while Mao Wa was squeezed into the middle of the back seat, with Su Jin on his left and Han Yu on his right.

Along the way, James played his favorite rock music in the car, and Park Sung-ho swayed and twisted to the music, which was quite comical, creating a very relaxed atmosphere.

The market is located in a square in Santa Monica, which is filled with all kinds of stalls, selling handmade jewelry, second-hand items, freshly made snacks, and street performers.

There were many people, and it was very lively.

James grabbed his DSLR and started snapping away, wanting to record everything. Park Sung-ho and Han Yu tacitly left the space to Mao Wa and Su Jin, and they went to the other end of the market.

Maowa smiled and shook his head. These guys.

"What's wrong?" Su Jin asked when she saw Maowa shake his head.

Maowa quickly brushed it off, saying, "Oh, it's nothing."

The two began strolling through the market. Soon, Su Jin spotted something that piqued her interest.

"Look at this." Su Jin picked up a bookmark woven from silver thread from the stall.

Maowa thought it looked good, so he asked the stall owner, "How much?"

"Fifteen dollars," the stall owner quoted a price.

Maowa thought it wasn't too expensive, so he decided to buy it.

But Su Jin pulled him away, saying, "Let's take another look."

After walking for a while, Su Jin stopped at a stall selling used books and saw an old book.

After she confirmed it, she excitedly told Maowa, "This is the 1910 edition of 'The Merchant of Venice'."

Maowa glanced at it and confirmed that it was indeed an old edition of "The Merchant of Venice," well-preserved, indicating that the original owner had taken good care of the book.

Su Jin glanced at the price tag, eight dollars. This time, she didn't hesitate and bought it immediately.

With her first success, Su Jin's enthusiasm grew even stronger.

As they strolled around, the two encountered Park Sung-ho and Han Woo, who were eating Korean stir-fried rice cakes at a stall.

When Park Sung-ho saw the two of them, he immediately asked the stall owner to pack two more servings of stir-fried rice cakes.

"Try it, it's not very authentic, but it's still pretty good." He handed two servings of fried rice cakes to Maowa and Sujin.

"One serving is enough for the two of us." Su Jin kept one serving for herself and gave the other one back to Park Sung-ho.

The little boy picked up a piece with a bamboo skewer and tasted it: "It's alright!"

Su Jin also took a bite, and it was so spicy that she gasped for breath.

Maowa quickly handed her the water.

After drinking a few sips of water, Su Jin finally calmed down: "Do you Koreans eat such spicy food too?"

Park Sung-ho quickly explained, "That's why I said it's not authentic. Authentic Korean stir-fried rice cakes are sweet and spicy, not this spicy."
