Chapter 797 - 796: The Wedding May Not Happen

After leaving the hospital, Serena Sullivan noticed Ethan Grant seemed a bit off. When they got home, he said he had work to handle and went straight upstairs to his study.

During dinner, Ethan came down but was still not in the right state.

The dinner was cooked by the family servant. Claire Sullivan was called out by Wyatt Sterling to eat outside. Serena felt Ethan was distracted and decided not to go.

"What’s wrong?"

As usual, after dinner, Ethan took Serena out for a walk.

Their neighborhood was upscale, with quiet surroundings.

Serena thought for a while and decided to question Ethan.

"Nothing."

Ethan replied flatly. Upon returning, he found an excuse to go upstairs to look at the materials Mrs. Kane had given.

The car accident four years ago was investigated thoroughly, but suspicions lingered without clear doubts. After seeing the documents, Ethan realized the anomalies lied with the accident driver.

"Ethan."

Serena called softly, "You can’t hide things from me."

She turned to look at Ethan, disliking that he kept things from her.

"Hm."

Ethan softened his voice, "Alright."

"Elliot called me," Ethan began, mentioning Elliot Walsh’s marriage to dispel Serena’s doubts.

The incident from the car accident four years ago needed further investigation; he planned to tell Serena later.

He wanted to protect Serena from worrying about messy issues.

"Hm?"

Serena was puzzled. "Is he wanting to marry Felicity Sterling?"

Serena guessed right; it wasn’t hard to guess.

"Last time at the old house, Young Master Walsh thought highly of her, viewing her as a prospective granddaughter-in-law."

"Elliot surely likes her. Marriage is only a matter of time."

Serena wasn’t surprised that Felicity managed to secure Elliot so quickly.

With June Kane imprisoned and the Ford Family in trouble, Elliot Walsh and the Walsh Family were Felicity’s lifeline.

Uncertain if she was truly in love with Elliot, but certainly marrying with a motive.

If she sought to leverage the Walsh Family against her, Felicity wouldn’t deserve to be with Elliot.

"Did he invite you?" Serena asked again.

Was Ethan troubled by this matter?

"If you want to go, then go," Serena responded. "Young Master Walsh has been your friend for many years."

Considering his many ties with Carter Lockwood, his relationship with Elliot was good too.

A good friend getting married, Ethan couldn’t refuse.

"I’m not going!"

Ethan rejected the idea.

"The marriage may not happen, nothing worthwhile attending."

The cold tone made Serena feel odd. Why was Ethan so sure that Elliot and Felicity wouldn’t get married?

"It was June Kane who acted ruthlessly towards me."

"I still believe Felicity is innocent."

"Ethan, just go."

Serena comforted Ethan, thinking he was preparing to deal with Felicity.

Ethan didn’t respond, clutching Serena’s hand. "As long as she knows nothing, doesn’t provoke us, we’ll stay out of each other’s affairs."

If that car accident from four years ago involved Felicity, he wouldn’t let it slide.

"Hm."

Serena smiled, not opposing.

Ethan supported Serena as they continued their walk, spending some time in the tranquil garden before returning home.

In the bridal shop, Felicity glanced at her reflection in the mirror, feeling lost.

She didn’t expect to leave The Sterling Family, for June Kane to be in trouble, or that her only choice was to marry Elliot Walsh.
