Chapter 375 The Final Plan for the Expo
Chapter 375 The Final Plan for the Expo
The first snow was still falling outside the window, and tiny white specks covered the glass with a thin layer of frost.
A gentle knock was heard from the outside of the office's mahogany door; the dull thud sounded rhythmic in the quiet room.
"Come in."
Hiruzen Sarutobi sat up straight and laid the documents flat on the table.
The door was pushed open a crack, and Sakumo Hatake walked in carrying the enormous roll that was almost taller than his head.
Behind him, Nara Shikamaru, sporting two dark circles under his eyes, carried a bag of backup plans that smelled of ink.
Deer Antlers' hair was a mess. His once neatly styled pineapple head was now half flat, with a few strands hanging down in front of his forehead, making him look extremely dejected.
"Lord Hokage, this is the final draft of the first expo, and... my will."
Shikano slammed the thick stack of documents—enough to kill someone—onto Hiruzen's desk with a loud thud.
Hiruzen picked up the proposal, the ink of which was still damp, and felt a chill on his fingertips.
"No need for a will, Konoha still needs your brain."
Hiruzen Sarutobi turned to the first page of the scroll.
The scroll slowly unfurled on the long table, revealing large swaths of red and blue lines outlining the blueprint for the transformation of Konoha's central plaza.
Sakumo stood to the side, still smelling of the farm's soil.
Before he came in, he ran into Tobirama Senju and Orochimaru in the corridor.
The two men were squatting next to the ventilation shaft in the corridor, arguing incessantly while pointing at a section of exposed metal pipe on the ground.
Tobirama held a specially made wrench, while Orochimaru held a notebook filled with chakra conduction formulas.
The two had spent the entire morning discussing the heat loss rate of the pipe heater.
When Sakumo entered, he could still hear Tobirama's emotionless commanding voice, instructing Orochimaru to recalculate the pressure in the third district.
"Lord Hokage, the sample exhibits at the farm are ready."
Shuo Mao pointed to the agriculture and food section on the drawing.
"That cabbage, which is as tall as a person, has been sealed with a barrier. To ensure the taste, Akimichi Torifu applies a local multiplication technique to it every day."
Hiruzen followed Sakumo's finger and looked in that direction.
The agricultural area occupies the southeast corner of the expo, which is one of the busiest entrances.
"That guy, Qu Feng, added special annotations to the plan."
The antlers added weakly from the side.
"He required that three Shimura clan members be stationed next to each barbecue stall, ready to use wind magic to guide the aroma at any time."
Hiruzen looked at the small red dots circled on the drawing; those were the smoke patterns drawn by Torifu himself.
This is no longer an expo; it's a massive olfactory invasion.
"Sakumo, how do you plan to display the winter strawberries from our directly-operated agricultural store?"
Hiruzen looked up at the farm manager.
Sakumo lowered his head slightly, his palm resting on the edge of the scroll behind him.
"I plan to bring a constant temperature barrier to the site and make a small, transparent exhibition booth."
"Let the villagers watch the strawberries ripen in the snow and then pick them on the spot."
Hiruzen drew a circle at that spot and wrote the words "Core Display".
This is a rehearsal he did using a simulator.
Nothing makes people feel the impact of technology on their lives more than "picking fresh fruit by hand in the cold winter".
Moving your gaze further to the left, you enter the [Technology and Industry Zone].
The art style in this section is noticeably more hardcore.
Danzo included a thick stack of load-bearing data in the plan.
He requested that a circular exhibition stand with a diameter of five meters be built in the center of the expo.
The booth was constructed using reinforced concrete under his personal supervision.
Danzo's plan was to have a Jonin-level Earth Release ninja apply at least three times the pressure gravity in front of the audience.
This is to prove to everyone that the future houses and dikes of Konoha will be stronger than steel.
Hiruzen pointed to the thin icon next to him.
"Is this a model of an elevator designed by Orochimaru?"
The deer nodded, its voice sounding as if it were squeezed out from deep in its throat.
"Yes, the second generation master made three improvements to that model. Now it can carry ten people up at the same time, and the speed is three times faster than an ordinary person climbing stairs."
"However... the Second Hokage requested that a lecture on the principle of real-time chakra transfer be added to the demonstration."
As Lu Jiao finished speaking, the corner of his mouth twitched stiffly.
"He planned to randomly grab three passing ninjas at the scene and ask them about their understanding of the chakra formula."
"Those who can't answer the question are not allowed to get off the elevator."
Hiruzen paused, his hand holding the pen still.
He could already picture the scene on the day of the expo, when those young ninjas were cornered in the elevator by Tobirama-sensei, trembling with fear.
This isn't a technology demonstration; it's practically a public execution ground for Konoha ninja.
"What about the cultural and arts district?"
Hiruzen shifted the topic to a gentler one.
"How are the preparations for the Uchiha fireworks festival going?"
Deer Antlers pulled out a picture book with a fan pattern from the pile of plans.
"Uchiha Kagami and Fugaku have finalized the process, and that kid named Obito has also added a lot of ideas."
"The final highlight was a ten-second-long colorful smiley face firework, executed simultaneously by several Uchiha clan members using fire-style techniques."
Hiruzen flipped through the fireworks design drawings and saw that crooked smiling face on the last page.
That kid Obito actually managed to persuade those old fogies in the clan.
The thought of those Uchiha clan members, always with gloomy faces and seemingly wanting to have the word "glory" etched on their foreheads, racking their brains to figure out how to make the fireworks smile more adorably filled Hiruzen with an indescribable sense of accomplishment.
