Chapter 44 Staying Overnight
Chapter 44 Staying Overnight
As evening approached and darkness fell, Son Seung-wan and her members arrived at Zhou Wenzhe's house.
"Happy birthday, Wenzhe oppa." Kim Yerin, as the representative, handed Zhou Wenzhe the gifts they had prepared. In addition to the gifts, they also brought a birthday cake.
"Thank you." Zhou Wenzhe accepted the gifts and welcomed the group into the house.
After entering the house, Son Seungwan secretly gave him another birthday gift. Coincidentally, it was also a watch, but not a Rolex, but an IWC, with a value similar to the watch Kim Jisoo had given him.
After giving her the gift, she smiled and asked, "What did you prepare for dinner?"
BBQ.
"Oh? At home? That would create too much smoke."
"On the terrace." Zhou Wenzhe pointed upwards. His house had a large open-air balcony, which was quite spacious. In addition to a small garden, there was a sunshade, a barbecue grill, and so on, all for cooling off and barbecuing in the summer.
Son Seung-wan was also surprised to learn that there was a rooftop terrace upstairs and was eager to see it. The others, equally curious, went upstairs with her.
The group went up to the terrace, where they could see the red glow of the sunset reflected on the horizon, which was very beautiful.
"Wow, it's so beautiful!" The group couldn't help but exclaim. It was truly a rare treat to see such a beautiful sunset in Seoul.
"This place is so nice." Kim Ye-rin sat on a hanging chair, swaying leisurely.
"Yes, it would be so wonderful to be able to live here forever." Park Soo-young sat down as well.
After saying that, the two of them turned to look at Son Seungwan at the same time, their tone filled with envy and teasing: "Unnie, when are you moving in?"
"Hey, you two!" Son Seungwan looked at her two younger sisters with shame and indignation.
"Haha, are we wrong?" The two laughed at the same time.
Kang Seulgi covered her mouth and laughed.
Only Bae Joo-hyun remained aloof. She glanced at Son Seung-wan, then looked at the rosy clouds on the horizon.
Just as the group was playing around, Zhou Wenzhe brought up the steak and other food he had prepared.
After setting the plate down, he first turned on the surrounding lights, illuminating the entire terrace, and then put the charcoal into the grill and lit it with a lighter.
Once the charcoal fire was lit, he picked up a piece of marinated beef steak and placed it on the fire, asking the group, "Who among you knows how to grill meat?"
"I can!" Park Soo-young raised her hand enthusiastically.
"Then the task of grilling the meat is yours." Zhou Wenzhe handed the tongs to Park Soo-young and then went downstairs.
Zhou Wenzhe might not know Park Soo-young, but how could the others present not know her? She doesn't know anything about grilling meat. She can even burn the meat at a barbecue restaurant, let alone using a grill, which is more difficult and harder to control the heat.
In the end, everyone unanimously decided that Bae Joo-hyun, who has relatively more cooking experience, would do the grilling, while the others would assist.
A short while later, Zhou Wenzhe came up again, this time with two bottles of red wine and wine glasses.
The youngest among them, Kim Ye-rin, is already an adult, so she can drink alcohol. In fact, this girl has quite a strong addiction to alcohol, but she can't hold her liquor.
Seeing the group scrambling around the grill, Zhou Wenzhe walked over, picked up another steak, placed it on the grill, and said, "At this rate, when will we ever get to eat? I'll grill it myself. Shengwan, you guys go down and bring the rest of the food up; it's all in the kitchen."
"it is good."
Son Seungwan led Kang Seulgi, Park Sooyoung, and Kim Yerin downstairs.
Only Zhou Wenzhe and Bae Joo-hyun remained on the terrace.
The two of them grilled their steaks separately, without exchanging a single word.
The atmosphere was a little awkward.
Finally, Zhou Wenzhe broke the silence first. He pointed to the steak that Bae Joo-hyun had grilled and said, "Joo-hyun-ssi, you need to flip this steak over, or it will burn."
"Oh." Bae Joo-hyun quickly picked up the steak and flipped it over; this side of the steak was already a bit overcooked.
"I'll do it. You go and tidy up the table."
"Um."
Bae Joo-hyun put down the clip and went to tidy the table.
Soon, Sun Seungwan and the others returned, bringing out all the ingredients, including two large lobsters, various shellfish, skewered vegetables, and so on.
The barbecue feast prepared by Zhou Wenzhe was quite lavish.
By this time, it was completely dark. Fortunately, the weather was excellent tonight, with few clouds and a sky full of stars.
"Oppa Wenzhe, can we eat now?" Kim Yerin came to Zhou Wenzhe's side, smelling the aroma of grilled meat.
Zhou Wenzhe used scissors to cut the steak into small pieces, picked up a piece, and held it to Jin Yilin's mouth.
Kim Ye-rin blew on the hot beef and ate it.
"Wow, this is so delicious, Oppa, give me another piece." Kim Ye-rin couldn't wait to have another piece after finishing hers.
She felt this was the best steak she had ever eaten in her life, bar none.
Hearing her say that, the others also gathered around, eager to try it as well.
Similarly, everyone gave high praise to the deliciousness of the steak.
Next, everyone drank, ate, and chatted.
Zhou Wenzhe still served as the head griller, and every time he finished grilling an ingredient, it was snatched up.
The wind swept away the remaining clouds.
In the end, all the food he had prepared was eaten up, leaving nothing behind, and the girls were so full they were practically swaying from side to side.
Both bottles of red wine were finished, and everyone except Zhou Wenzhe had rosy cheeks.
However, no one got drunk; it's just that some people got so drunk they forgot themselves.
Just like Kim Ye-rin and Park Soo-young, these two girls sang and danced, and even performed their own Red Velvet songs.
If their fans knew this, they would probably be green with envy for Zhou Wenzhe.
. . .
After the weather turned a bit cooler, everyone went downstairs and back inside.
Back inside, Son Seungwan brought out the birthday cake, lit the number '24' candle, and then led the singing of the birthday song.
The others joined in the singing, and even Bae Joo-hyun sang along.
Thank you.
After singing the birthday song, Zhou Wenzhe was about to blow out the candles.
Kim Ye-rin quickly stopped him, "Oppa, you haven't made a birthday wish yet."
"Oh." Zhou Wenzhe made a wish over the candle and then blew it out.
"Oppa, what did you wish for?" Kim Ye-rin asked curiously.
"I just hope everyone is healthy," Zhou Wenzhe said with a slight smile.
"Wow, this wish will definitely come true." Kim Ye-rin clapped her hands, and the others echoed her sentiment.
Only Sun Seung-wan looked at Zhou Wenzhe with some worry, knowing that his illness might relapse.
After cutting the cake, Zhou Wenzhe looked at Sun Shengwan and said, "It's so late, and you've all had quite a bit to drink. Why don't you stay here tonight?"
"This..." Son Seungwan didn't dare to make the decision on her own, so she looked at Bae Joo-hyun.
The others also looked at Bae Joo-hyun, as only the captain and eldest sister could make such a decision.
Originally, Bae Joo-hyun would definitely not have agreed, but she wanted to talk to Zhou Wenzhe. If she missed this opportunity tonight, she didn't know if she would have another chance to talk to him, so she nodded in agreement.
The four were genuinely surprised to see that Bae Joo-hyun had agreed, but they didn't think much of it and continued drinking and having fun.
As time went by, the two bottles of red wine that Zhou Wenzhe had just brought were emptied again.
This is equivalent to each person drinking about 2/3 of a bottle, which is 750 ml per bottle.
Kim Ye-rin and Son Seung-wan, who have the lowest alcohol tolerance, are completely drunk and have fallen asleep on the carpet and sofa. Park Soo-young and Kang Seul-gi are in slightly better condition, but they are still half-drunk and half-awake, on the verge of falling asleep at any moment. Only Bae Joo-hyun seems to be able to stay sober.
